SHREVEPORT, LA – The Howard Payne men’s soccer team secured an early lead and went on to post a 2-1 non-conference win over Centenary College Saturday afternoon.
Chris Thompson scored for the Jackets just 12 minutes into the game on a David Rucker assist. The Jackets made it 2-0 in the 29th minute on a Joseph Gardner goal.
Ryan Young, who played all 90 minutes in goal, allowed just one goal (63rd minute) in the game and recorded three saves.
The Jackets are now 2-0-1 on the year and Centenary stands at 1-2-0. HPU will continue their road trip and play Hendrix College on Monday at 7:00 pm in Conway, AR.
