Jacey Guest, representing Early FFA, was crowned Miss Brown County Fair Association 2014 at the annual awards and premium sale Saturday night.  This year’s newly crowned Miss Brown County Fair Association was awarded a $2000 scholarship from the Brown County Fair Association, a traveling trophy for her school, a trophy to keep as her own and various other gifts from local merchants.

Jacey Guest is the daughter of John and Jan Guest. She is a junior at Early High School.  She is representing the Early FFA and has shown steers for nine years.  Jacey has won Reserve Champion Angus Steer at San Antonio in 2007, Reserve Champion Steer at the Brown County Youth Fair in 2009 and Champion Shorthorn Steer at Fort Worth in 2010.

She is the Vice President of Early FFA and Sentinel for the Cross Timbers District.  She competes in farm skills and has been to state competition two years ago.  Jacey is also a member of Key Club and FCCLA.  She has been on the honor society for three years in high school and was named AP Sophomore Student of the Year award.  Jacey plans to attend college and pursue a career in Agriculture.

Other candidates for Miss BCFA included Abby Day, representing Brownwood FFA and Cheyenne Edwards with Bangs FFA.   Each contestant was escorted into the sale arena by their fathers.

The first runner up was Abby Day, who will receive a $1750 scholarship from the BCFA.  Second runner up was Cheyenne Edwards, who will also receive a scholarship of $1500.  Each of these runner ups were presented a plaque and were also given various gifts from local merchants.

These girls worked hard to prove themselves on five levels:  BCYFA Membership Sales, Poise & Appearance, Personality, Public Speaking, and their participation in the Youth Fair.

Membership sales by the Youth Fair Queen competition is the main fundraiser for the Brown County Fair Association and proceeds benefit the upkeep of facilities and enhancement of the premium sale.  Memberships were sold for $20/family and also entitled member families to eat free at the annual barbeque that is held during Rodeo Week in June.  This year had another record breaking number of memberships.
