Funeral services with full military honors for J. C. Jones, age 81, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Christ Chapel Church with Reverend Laurence Blackstock officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Jones passed away Wednesday morning at his home.
J.C. was born December 30, 1928 in Overton, Alabama, the son of the late Jerry Willard and Fannie Mae (Glass) Jones. He had been a resident of Brownwood for since 1966. J.C. was retired from the U.S. Army, having served during World War II, the Korean War and Viet Nam War. He was also retired from the Texas Department of Transportation. He was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, the American Legion and VFW. J. C. married Pat Blackstock in Brownwood on June 2, 1956.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Jones, of Brownwood; children, Mike and Donna Jones of Brownwood and Jeff Jones of Brownwood; grandchildren, Bridget Jones and Brandon Jones; sister, Alfrey Mae “Sis” Harris of Birmingham, Alabama; brother, Willie Poe of Birmingham, Alabama; a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family, as well as a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Orville Jones and Vernon Jones and sisters, Mildred Wilson and Norma Bagby.
