Funeral service for Ivy Dell White, age 74, of Brownwood, will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenleaf Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Ms. White passed from this life on Friday, December 21, 2012 in Abilene.

We celebrate the life and home-going of Ivy Dell White who was born to the late Roosevelt Moore and Hattie Lee Lister Moore Hudson. A brother, Herman Moore also preceded her in death.

Ivy grew up in the home of Frank and Minerva Moore and was often referred to as “The Baby”; Herman was “Scout”; and Eula was “The Darling”, but referred to by Ivy as “Bonnie”.

She attended Centerline Elementary School and graduated from T.W. Jones High School, Class of 1956 in Snook, TX. She was a member of the Jones High School Quartet (1st alto) where they competed in UIL Competitions and was also known as “High Point Scorer” for the Jones High Tigers’ Girls Basketball Team. She was also an accomplished seamstress and crafter. In her high school years, she designed clothing and sewed, by hand, fashions for herself and cousins: Joanne Lister McCain and Mary Ann Nix.

Ivy accepted Christ at an early age and joined Somerville Church of God. She later joined Bible Way Church in Del Rio, TX and Evening Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church & the Austin Ave. Church of Christ in Brownwood, TX.

After graduation, Ivy relocated to Brownwood, TX where she married Henry Ray (deceased). Four children were born to this union. She was employed by Brownwood Manufacturing and Chisholm’s Steak House. She later married IJ White from Coleman, TX and two children were born to this union. She relocated to Del Rio, TX and worked for Chef’s corner. She later moved to Midland, TX where she worked for the Salvation Army daycare center.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Three daughters: Carol McDonald (George) of San Antonio Texas, Sharon Hansen (Steve) of Brownwood, TX, and Barbara Clay of Dallas Texas and three sons: James A. Ray (Antoinette) of Arlington, TX, Victor G. Ray of San Angelo, TX, and IJ White of Brownwood, TX.  One maternal sister: Eula Harrison of Grand Prairie, TX, and two paternal siblings: Wanda Barrett of Florida and Marvin Barrett of Lions, TX. Fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of loved ones and friends.
