The first annual “Tell a Police Officer ‘Thank You’ Day” is scheduled to take place Saturday. The initiative was started by the Whole Truth Project, an organization with a mission to promote a pro-police message.
The Law Enforcement Spousal Assoc of Brown County encourages everyone to take time to thank local law enforcement officials for their service and protection.
The group states that police officers risk their lives to protect and serve their communities yet too often get “a bad rap.”Citizens are encouraged to take a moment out of their day to show appreciation for their local officers through small acts of gratitude or by saying “thank you” and businesses are urged to donate something to police departments, like breakfast or coffee.
Organizers state that all too often officer’s service is taken for granted, the difficult job they undertake each day despite the risks, putting their lives in danger for the sake of others.
“We must show support and appreciation for those that serve and protect us,” founder Andrew Hale stated. “A few ‘bad apple’ police officers do not spoil the whole tree. The overwhelming majority of police officers are dedicated and hard-working.”
