IdaMaeIsomIda Mae Currie Isom, 83, passed away on January 31, 2010 in Brownwood.  A life of loving, giving, and working has ended. Words cannot tell how much we will miss her, but we are glad she has the peace and joy of heaven.

Ida Mae was born on June 6, 1926 to James Lee Currie and Myrtle Mae Maxwell Currie in Locker, Texas.  She graduated from Richland Springs High School.  She married Charley Isom, Sr. on September 15, 1945 in San Saba.  Ida Mae’s first and most important role was to be a mother.  Nothing brought her more pleasure than to be with her family.  In addition to a love of family, Ida Mae had a love of learning.  She was an encourager always believing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren could accomplish anything. Mrs. Isom had been a member at Brady Avenue Church of Christ and later at Early Church of Christ. After the death of her husband in 1982 Ida Mae went to work for Brownwood ISD as a janitor and later as a library aide.

Mrs. Isom was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Isom, Sr., and an infant daughter, Teresa Marie.  She is survived by son, Robert Isom, daughter Elizabeth Ceresini, son Charley Isom, Jr. and wife Becky, son John Isom and wife Jean, daughter Alpha Doyle and husband David, son James Isom and wife Marilyn, son Willie Isom and wife Debbie, daughter Lucy Smith and husband Charles, son Dallas Isom and wife Helen, son Ronald Isom and wife Susan, and son Harold Isom and wife Sheila, twenty-five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.  Ida Mae had six brothers and five sisters.  She is survived by one brother, J.W. Currie.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  A special thank you to Mrs. Jayne Hickey for being a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Early Church of Christ, 900 Early Blvd, in Early with Scotte Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery near Blanket.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Blaylock Funeral Home, 1914 Indian Creek Road, Brownwood.
