The American Southwest Conference announced its players of the week and Howard Payne’s Zach Hubbard and Jordan Pfenenger were honored as Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

Zach Hubbard, QB, Jr.
Howard Payne junior quarterback Zach Hubbard (Shepherd, TX / SHS) was 27 of 50 passing for 453 yards and five touchdowns without an interception to lead a 38-24 upset road win over nationally-ranked Mississippi College. Hubbard, who takes the league’s top weekly award for the second straight time, also ran nine times for 33 yards. Two of his scoring tosses came in the fourth quarter to break open a 38-24 game.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Pfenenger, S, SO.
Howard Payne sophomore safety Jordan Pfenenger (Brownwood, TX / Early HS) posted two interceptions to help lead the Yellow Jackets to a 38-24 upset road win over nationally-ranked Mississippi College. Pfenenger, who also had a pair of tackles, spearheaded a unit that picked off Adam Shaffer five times and shut out the Choctaws in the fourth quarter. Shaffer had been picked off just three times in 240 attempts entering the game and MC had scored in its previous six quarters.
