Howard_Payne_logosmallHoward Payne University’s School of Music and Fine Arts will present a memorial program Sunday afternoon, Sept. 11, titled “Remembering 9/11: A Decade Later.” Beginning at 3:00 p.m., the program will feature presentations by students, alumni and faculty.

Like the rest of the country, the HPU family and local communities were deeply impacted by the events that unfolded that day. The program includes pieces designed to pay tribute to those who lost their lives, the many families who were impacted by the events and the American Spirit.

“We wanted to provide a venue to honor those who were affected personally by 9/11 and remember those who gave selflessly during the attacks and subsequently,” said Dr. Monte Garrett,

HPU associate professor of music and organizer of the event.

Lt. Gen. Terry Scott, former Brand Visiting Professor, will bring the keynote address. In addition, the program will include dramatic interpretation, readings and music.

The event is free to the public and will be held in Mims Auditorium on the HPU campus.
