SigmaBetaDeltaInduction2010Howard Payne University’s School of Business recently inducted 11 new members into the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society. The ceremony was held on April 21 in the Bullion Suites at HPU’s Mabee University Center.

This year’s inductees are Kendra Brockman, Justin Bryant, Jordan Godby, Tana Grissom, Josh Muse, Chris Parolini, Matt Peisker, Matt Roddam and Amanda Whorton.  Two faculty members, Dr. Lois Patton and Dr. Mark Patton, professors of business administration, were also inducted.

Joe King, owner and operator of Bishop Distributing and the Sunbeater Company, served as the keynote speaker.  He is a 1983 graduate of Early High School and a 1987 graduate of Howard Payne University.

Sigma Beta Delta was founded in 1994 as a national organization for NCAA Division III universities and accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. HPU’s chapter received its charter in 1999.

The honor society was established to recognize outstanding scholarship by students enrolled in institutions that have regional accreditation and to encourage and promote aspirations toward personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind. Its activities are coordinated with those of Beta Gamma Sigma and Delta Mu Delta, business honor societies at NCAA Division I and II universities, to ensure that all outstanding students of business receive the recognition they deserve. Membership is for life.
