JoyJordanLakeSpeakerThe Howard Payne University Woman’s Club will host the annual Yellow Rose Scholarship Luncheon on Thursday, April 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year’s featured speaker is Dr. Joy Jordan-Lake, author and highly sought-after speaker and retreat leader.

During the luncheon, the Woman’s Club will announce the recipient of the Yellow Rose Scholarship for the 2015-2016 academic year as well as honor one of the guests with the prestigious 2015 Yellow Rose Award. Tickets are $25 per person and a sponsorship of $500 will reserve a table and eight tickets. Proceeds support the Yellow Rose Scholarship.

Dr. Joy Jordan-Lake is known for her superb intellect, southern charm and wit. She is a highly acclaimed author with writings in numerous genres, including such books as Why Jesus Makes Me Nervous: Ten Alarming Words of Faith and Blue Hole Back Home: A Novel. Having taught at universities in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Texas and Tennessee, Dr. Jordan-Lake now focuses on writing, while teaching part time at the Honors College of Belmont University. She enjoys speaking at universities, book clubs and conferences across the country.

“We’re very excited to welcome Dr. Jordan-Lake to campus for the Yellow Rose Scholarship Luncheon,” said Dr. Diana Ellis, HPU’s first lady and president of the Woman’s Club. “We’re certain our guests will be blessed by her words as we enjoy a time of fellowship together.”

Tickets for the luncheon must be purchased by Thursday, April 9. They are available at HPU’s Harrison House at 803 Center Avenue or at the Packer Administration Building (Office #202) at 1017 Fisk Street.
