The American Southwest Conference today announced the 2012 preseason volleyball poll and Howard Payne University was picked to finish 5th in the ASC West Division after a vote of each division’s head coaches and sports information directors.
The Lady Jacket volleyball team received 29 votes for a fifth place prediction in the 2012 ASC preseason volleyball poll. In 2011, HPU finished 9-22 overall and 5-13 ASC action.
HPU will start their season on August 31st at the North Park University Tournament in Chicago, IL. The Lady Jackets play Kenyon College and St. Mary’s (IN) on day one and Ripon College and host North Park on day two. HPU will then play their first conference match against Texas Lutheran in Seguin, Texas on Sept. 5th.
The Lady Jackets will have their first home match on Sept. 18th versus Concordia University Texas at 7:00 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum. Admission is free to all HPU home volleyball matches. Check out HPUsports.com for dates and times.
The 2012 ASC season – the 17th in league history – begins as early as Sept. 1. The six-team, double-elimination ASC tournament is slated for Nov. 1-3 at the site of the West Division champion and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship will be on the line.
