The Howard Payne volleyball team loses in five sets to Texas Lutheran University (25-16, 18-25, 25-23. 17-25, 6-15) at the Brownwood Coliseum Tuesday night.
The Lady Jackets started the match strong winning the first and third sets. They were unable to hold on and dropped the final two sets. They played strong in the first game with a .250 percentage with 14 kills and only 5 attack errors.
Howard Payne was lead by Kathie Kilmartin who finished the game with 12 kills. She had only 6 errors with a .207 hitting percentage. Tamika Heline finished behind her with 13 kills, but 9 errors. Amber Cantu-Curry finished with a match high 42 assists with 17 digs. Kristin Hammond also ended the game with a match high 21 digs. Sarah Black led TLU and had 19 kills. Jessica Stetler followed with 17 kills and 20 digs. Manda Martin had 34 assists and 12 digs.
HPU goes to 9-12 overall and 3-9 in the American Southwest Conference. TLU moves to 9-9 overall and 8-3 in the ASC.
Howard Payne plays again this next weekend at the second ASC Crossover at Schreiner University in Kerrville.
