The step between dating and marriage is a large one, and Howard Payne University wants to help couples make sure they are ready for the commitment. HPU’s Family Studies program will present “Fit to be Tied,” a five-week pre-marital enrichment program open to students and members of the community.
The series will be hosted and facilitated by Dr. Keith Mask, professor and chair of the Department of Psychology and Family Studies; Jerry Leslie, a local marriage and family therapist; and students in HPU’s capstone Family Life Education class.
“Our premarital series provides dating and engaged couples with an excellent opportunity to make a significant investment in their relationship,” said Dr. Mask. “The series will assist couples in developing their communication and conflict resolution skills – two critical areas which will have a major impact on future marital satisfaction. While ‘Fit to Be Tied’ will provide couples with a lot of helpful tools for building a strong marriage, it also will be delivered in a way that is both engaging and entertaining.”“Fit to be Tied” will be held on Sunday evenings, March 25-April 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the HPU Bullion Suites on the second floor of the Mabee University Center. Cost for the series is $15.00 per couple or $10.00 for an individual. Each couple will receive a helpful resource notebook. To register, contact Dr. Mask at kmask@hputx.edu or 325-649-8143.
