SpringSingPracticeHoward Payne University will present Spring Sing 2012 on Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, at 5:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively, in Mims Auditorium.

This year’s theme is “Toon into the ’90s,” and each participating group will perform a 10-minute original musical sketch centered on a cartoon show that was on the air in the 1990s.

Student organizations participating in this year’s event include Chi Alpha Omega, Delta Chi Rho, Iota Chi Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi, Sigma Theta Phi and Zeta Chi.

General admission tickets are $6 for non-students ($4 for students) and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at the HPU Cashier’s Office, located in the Packer Administration Building, and at the Harrison House (located at 803 Center Avenue) or by calling 325-649-8013. A sneak-preview dress rehearsal is also open to the public on Thursday, March 1, at 8:30 p.m., in Mims Auditorium. Tickets for the dress rehearsal are $3 each and available only at the door.

A Spring Sing committee, chaired by senior Amber Schroepfer of Crowley, is coordinating this year’s production. Advisers include Larissa Leifer, resident director; Tyler Sellers, director of student activities; and Dr. Brent Marsh, vice president for student life and dean of students.

“We are so excited about Spring Sing this year and all the student groups who are involved,” Leifer said. “The theme and shows will take us back to our childhood with the addition of some HPU flare. Come out and enjoy some great entertainment and show your support for HPU and the organizations!”
