Howard Payne University landed five softball players on the 2011 American Southwest Conference softball All-Conference lists following a division-only vote by head coaches, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Howard Payne senior first baseman Ashley Silva was voted the west division’s sportsmanship athlete of the year. She also received Honorable Mention All-West Division honors at first base. She drove in a team high 21 runs and hit four homeruns on the year.
Elizabeth Alvarado was named Honorable Mention All-West Division at second base. She was second on the team in hitting with a .305 average.
At third base, Tylene Middleton was named Honorable Mention All-West Division. Second on the team with 17 RBIs this season, she hit .282 at the plate with four homeruns.
Brittany Johnson received Honorable Mention All-West Division honors at catcher. Starting in 24 of 29 games played in, she had 10 RBIs on 19 hits and was second on the team in walks with 15.
The Lady Jackets finished the 2011 season at 15-23 overall and 13-11 in conference play, just one game out of an ASC playoff spot.
