The Howard Payne University Retired Employees Association recently elected officers for 2012. Representing the group will be Dr. Robert Peters, associate professor emeritus of education, president; Virginia Butler, instructor emeritus of developmental studies, vice president; Marilynn Jackson, associate professor emeritus of psychology, secretary; and Jeff Turner, associate professor emeritus of business administration, treasurer.
The REA was created in 2010 by Dr. Bill Ellis, HPU president, to keep the retirees connected to the university in a meaningful way. The group meets three times a year to hear faculty, staff and students give updates on campus activities. Members serve as welcome teams during back-to-school activities, Homecoming and other events throughout the year.
Founding officers were Dr. Paul Butler, professor emeritus of education, president; Ann Harris, former director of student life, vice president; Marilynn Jackson, secretary; and Jeff Turner, treasurer.
