Lance Beaumont, Howard Payne University assistant professor of music, will be leading the second annual summer guitar camp this June at King Music Co.  This-week long camp will give first graders through adults the tools necessary to play the guitar in a variety of settings.  Students will learn how to play chords on the guitar, play melodies utilizing classic and pop technique, read basic notes, learn scales to aid in improvisation and play the blues.

The beginner’s camp for first graders through junior high students will be held June 7-11 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Junior high through high school age students will meet June 14-18 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Adults interested in the beginner camp can take classes June 14-18 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

New this summer is the Rock Band camp to be offered June 28 – July 2.  Beaumont says this camp will be a great time for students to learn how to play guitar like a “rock star.”  Students will be trained on how to play popular guitar riffs and solos as well as electric guitar equipment and accessories.  This camp will culminate in a concert on Friday for parents and friends. Rock Band Camp will be offered June 28 – July 2 for all ages.
