Sixty students from the Pre-College Music Program at Howard Payne University participated in the District 8-4 Junior Festival, in conjunction with the National Federation of Music Clubs, on Saturday, March 19, held at HPU.
Students entered in the Competitive Category who earn a “Superior” rating at the local festival are entitled to advance to the State Competition in San Marcos on May 21. Of the 60 students competing, 41 advanced to the State Level. They are: Grady Benton, Audrey Boren, Athena Brindle, Angie Calfa, Becca Church, Sarah Church, Abraham Cooper, Victoriano Cooper, Victoria Cuello, Emily Dick, Logan Dick, Robert Dick, Laurel Edmondson, Melia Edmondson, Jessica Harris, Savannah Johnson, Austin Johnston, Dallas Johnston, Devin Keese, Kamry Keese, Isaac Lock, Collin Lyons, Skyler Moore, David Morales, Jonathan Morales, Sydney Neel, Emma Grace Quillin, Paul David Quillin, Sarah Reeves, Jordan Roberts, Meredith Underwood, Trina Wheeless, David Woods, Joshua Woods, Sam Woods, Kate Yantis and Maggie Yantis.
Participants in the Non-Competitive Category were: Andrew Boren, Weston Burns, Colby Darnell, Kylee Day, Rayven Deray, Mia Fletcher, Sydney Jones, Kyler Judkins, Mary McIver, Michael Morales, Aishwarya Nigalye and Madison Sharp.
