Howard Payne University is taking part in a major development project that will bring an HPU extension center to the Comal/Guadalupe County area. During its regular meeting held on campus earlier this week, the HPU Board of Trustees, upon the recommendation of the Academic and Faculty Services Committee, authorized the university to begin working to develop an HPU presence in the New Braunfels area.
The university is now taking the steps necessary to notify its major accrediting body, establishing the parameters for programmatic design along with the planning of curricular offerings that will be delivered to students.
Australian firm ASA Properties, in conjunction with Craig Hall of Craig Real Estate, is negotiating with the City of New Braunfels to create a 5,000-home community on the Word-Borchers Ranch just outside the city limits. Plans for the community include a higher education campus, a resort hotel, parks and more.
“HPU proudly serves students from its Brownwood campus and El Paso Extension Center, and we look forward to reaching even more students through this wonderful opportunity,” said Dr. Bill Ellis, university president. “The university is honored to have been chosen for this venture, and we are certain it will be of mutual benefit to all parties.”
More details and a timeline for the project will be released as available.
