This weekend, Howard Payne University presents Junie B. Jones: The Musical. Many children and parents have fallen in love with the stories of Junie B. Jones and enjoying the honest narrative of life through the eyes of this energetic child.
“When I happened upon this musical, written by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, I knew that families in our community would want to see these characters come to life,” said Celeste Church, HPU Associate Professor of Music.
Church explained that the writers have combined several stories from Barbara Park’s books and woven them into a wonderful picture of those funny moments in grade school.
“The music is energetic and the movement will keep your students interested. Howard Payne students are enjoying the chance to act like kids, teachers, and parents,” Church said. “The show was designed in a way that allows almost every actor to play more than one role, which only adds to the fun!”Three performances will be offered during the school day: November 20th at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and November 21st at 1:00 p.m. and the show will last about an hour. There will be performances for the whole family on Friday, November 21st at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00 p.m. Performances will be in Mims Auditorium where there are plenty of seats available for each performance and it is accessible to all students.
