The Howard Payne University volleyball team fell in five games 3-2 (14-25, 25-22, 18-25, 26-24, 7-15) to Schreiner University Tuesday in American Southwest Conference action.
The HPU Lady Jackets dropped the first game 25-14 but rallied to take game two, 25-22. Howard Payne got down early and lost game three 25-18. In the most contested game of the night, HPU won the fourth 26-24 to force game five. The Lady Jackets again were down early losing 15-7.
Schreiner had a .208 attack pct as a team to HPU’s .058 pct. Schreiner also held the advantage in total blocks 12 to 6 over Howard Payne.
Tamika Heline led HPU with a match high 20 kills and 19 digs. Kristin Hammond has 16 digs and Sarah Davies played solid off the bench with 5 kills. Schreiner was led by Hallet Dickey with 16 kills followed by Caitlin Gayle with 9. Jaemi Groves had 36 assists.
Howard Payne falls to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in ASC play while Schreiner improves to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in ASC action.
Howard Payne will play next in Austin on Thursday versus Concordia University Texas at 7:00 pm.
