On Saturday, April 10, Howard Payne University will host Stinger Daze, a one-day event to provide prospective students with the opportunity to experience student life on campus while interacting with current students, faculty and staff. The event will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the Mabee University Center. Following Stinger Daze, prospective students and their families are encouraged to take part in Howard Payne’s annual Christian concert, HPU Fest.
“We are excited about the opportunity to showcase all that HPU has to offer future Yellow Jackets,” said Kevin Kirk, assistant vice president for enrollment management. “Combining Stinger Daze with HPU Fest will provide families the opportunity to learn about Howard Payne in the morning and then experience first-hand the fun and excitement that our students have on campus.”
Highlights for the day include attending an academic fair with faculty and staff to discuss academic interests, as well as a financial aid and admission information session, dining in the Beadel Dining Area, and tours of campus and the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom.
Admitted students for the Fall 2010 semester will also have the opportunity to meet their advisors and register early for classes.
HPU Fest, a free all-day concert, begins at 3 p.m. and will be held in Old Main Park. For the first time, the concerts will be performed on two fully produced stages, allowing for a continuous flow of music throughout the day.
Performers this year include Jimmy Needham, Ben Rector, Jason Gray, Echoing Angels, the Justin Cofield Band, Miranda Dodson and HPU student performers Katie Curry, One Less Stone, Vinyl Club, Chronic Frailty and Rise to the Challenge.
