Phonathon2010logoHoward Payne University will begin the Student Phonathon 2010 on campus beginning Monday, January 25. A panel of students will be calling alumni and friends of HPU, seeking financial support for the university’s Annual Scholarship Fund.

The Phonathon will be conducted on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights between January 25 and February 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

More than 95% of students at HPU receive financial aid and the Annual Scholarship Fund plays a major role in providing student scholarships.

“Due to a wonderful response which exceeded our expectations in 2009, we have raised our monetary goal for this year,” said Emily Frey, annual giving coordinator. “We have a new group of students who are eager to learn more about HPU alumni and their passions for the university through this worthwhile campaign and we are looking forward to great results.”

The purpose of Annual Scholarship Fund is to raise money for unfunded scholarships for students attending HPU. This year, HPU awarded more than $4.6 million for unfunded scholarships. Contributions from alumni and friends of the university are necessary to defray these costs.
