hpu_football_logoThe Howard Payne University football team was pre-season picked to finish seventh in the 2013 American Southwest Conference pre-season poll after a vote of the league’s head coaches, sports information directors and media members, the ASC office announced on Tuesday.

Howard Payne finished 1-9 overall and 1-6 in ASC action last season under first year head coach Roger Geise. The Yellow Jackets return over sixty players from last season’s squad and expect to have over 160 total report for workouts.

Howard Payne will open the 2013 season at home on September 7th versus Trinity University at 6:00 pm. The next two weeks will see a road game at Southwestern Assemblies of God and then a home game versus NCAA D-II Wayland Baptist. The Jackets will have an open week after that before opening conference play versus Louisiana College on October 5th at home.
