The Howard Payne University defense allowed the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys 381 yards on the ground in a 59-24 loss Saturday afternoon in conference action.
With Hardin-Simmons leading 24-17 at halftime, the Cowboys would outscore Howard Payne 35-7 gaining 381 yards on the ground.
HPU quarterback Richard Young was 36-for-53 passing for 280 yards and a TD. Running back Zarron Dove had 75 yards on 12 carries and 2 TDs. Dove also had five catches for 66 yards.
Colby Mica finished with 99 yards on 12 catches. Kevin Domingue had seven catches for 36 yards and a TD.
Jordan Young led the HPU defense with 13 tackles. Jason Disney had 10 tackles (2.5 for loss) and a sack.
Howard Payne is now 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Hardin-Simmons stands at 2-3 overall and 1-1 in conference. The Jackets will travel to Clinton, Miss next week to play Mississippi College.
