Howard Payne University Senior Tristan Summers was nationally ranked in the top 1% on the Major Field Test (MFT) in Business for the fall 2009 assessment. Summers, who will be graduating during HPU’s December Commencement, is pursuing a double major in Business and the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom.
Additionally, HPU’s Business Strategy class, the capstone course for all business majors, collectively ranked in the top 5% nationally among the 618 universities participating in the MFT. Other HPU seniors ranking in the top 25% included Lane Wakefield, Michael Lindsay, and Steven Rowell.
“Our business faculty members are certainly proud of Tristan and the entire class for this outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Les Plagens, dean for the school of business. “This reflects four years of hard work in our business school. These students should feel confident competing with the best of the business graduates nationwide as they pursue their business careers.”
There were 132,647 senior business majors participating in the United States to form the cohort group.
The MFT in Business provides business schools specific assessment data relating to student performance in accounting, economics, management, quantitative business analysis, finance, marketing, legal and social environment, information systems and international issues. The exam is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) which also administers the SAT testing program.
