Howard Payne University will present a special gathering of youth ministry professionals from around the country for the 2012 Perspectives Conference to be held February 28 and 29. Titled “Many Facets, One Reality,” the conference is designed to show attendees the many sides of ministering to young people.
The event will include topics such as ministering to Hispanic youth, ministering to parents and resources for leadership and leadership development.
“This is our first time to host such a conference at Howard Payne, and we are excited about providing this opportunity for youth ministers, volunteer youth workers and youth ministry students,” said Dr. Gary Gramling, professor of Christian studies and director of the youth ministry graduate program. “We are grateful to have such a wonderful group of speakers, and we are also anticipating some great discussion as we share perspectives on each topic. Our prayer is that God will use this event to help each of us become more effective in ministering to contemporary students.”
Guest speakers include Dr. Allen Jackson, youth ministry professor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary; Mark Matlock, team leader at Youth Specialties; Dr. Gus Reyes, Baptist General Convention of Texas; Dr. Scott Stevens, youth ministry consultant; and Jane Wilson, youth ministry specialist with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
