Two Howard Payne University athletes were recognized this week for their recent game performances.
The American Southwest Conference today announced its football players of the week and Howard Payne’s Brandon Young was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Howard Payne junior kick returner Brandon Young totaled 241 yards on eight kickoff returns. Young also took one back 99 yards for a touchdown during the third quarter of the Yellow Jackets’ road loss to Louisiana College. Young also ran for a team-high 32 yards on four carries and caught three passes for 39 yards.
The American Southwest Conference today also announced its men’s soccer players of the week and Howard Payne’s Shane Cazad was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Howard Payne junior forward Shane Cazad scored the game-winning goals against both Hardin-Simmons and McMurry. Cazad, who takes the league’s top weekly offensive award for the second time this season, found the back of the net twice in a 4-3 match with HSU. Cazad now has nine goals on the season.
