Howard Payne University recently appointed Emily (Tittle) Attaway, a 2009 graduate of the university, as assistant vice president for finance. Attaway, a certified public accountant (pictured left), will direct and oversee HPU’s business office, which is responsible for financial reporting, accounting operations, budget management, student accounts, cashiering, accounts payable and audit compliance.
A Brownwood native, Attaway graduated summa cum laude from HPU with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in accounting. While at HPU, she was a member of Sigma Beta Delta, a national business honor society. After leaving the university, she moved to Dallas and, in 2010, graduated summa cum laude from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Master of Science degree in accounting and information systems. She subsequently passed the CPA exam in 2011.“We are excited that Emily has returned to HPU to serve as assistant vice president for finance,” said Brenda Alexander, senior vice president for finance and administration. “Her expertise in accounting and information technology will be a tremendous asset in HPU’s business and finance operations.”
Attaway was most recently employed at JHB, LLP in Dallas, where she was responsible for managing preparation of clients’ financial statements, complex tax returns and oil and gas accounting.
She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of CPAs. She has been an active member of First Baptist Church Rockwall, serving as Sunday School teacher, MOPS leader and a leader in various youth activities. Attaway is married to Daniel Attaway, who graduated from HPU in 2008 with a degree in Christian studies. He recently earned his Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.
