Dr. Boyd Butler, a 1992 graduate of Howard Payne University, was on HPU’s campus recently presenting research and recruiting students for the Texas Tech University graduate program in biology.

Dr. Butler has a Ph.D. from SUNY Upstate Medical University and is an assistant professor at Texas Tech. He was joined on campus by his colleague, Dr. Raviprakash Dani, graduate program development coordinator at Texas Tech.

Dr. Butler’s parents, Dr. Paul Butler and Virginia Butler, are emeriti faculty of HPU and live in the Brownwood area.

“We all enjoyed Dr. Butler’s presentation very much,” said Dr. Lynn Little, dean of HPU’s School of Science and Mathematics. “He is doing cutting-edge research at Texas Tech at the very important interface between cell biology and immunology, working out the mechanisms by which natural killer cells protect us all from invading pathogens and cancer cells. We can all be very proud that Dr. Butler began his academic career at HPU.”
