Howard_Payne_logosmallHoward Payne University recently announced that 289 students earned academic honors for the fall semester of 2009. One hundred fourteen students were named to the President’s List, 108 students were named to the Dean’s List and 67 students were named to the Honor Roll.

Students must earn a 4.0 grade point average to be named to the President’s List, a 3.65-3.99 grade point average to be named to the Dean’s List, and a 3.5-3.64 grade point average to be named to the Honor Roll.

Founded in 1889, HPU is a Christian, coeducational university offering a full array of liberal arts, pre-professional, and honors studies, as well as a graduate program to its students.  Located on a residential main campus in Brownwood, Texas, and at three extension centers across the state, the university is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

HPU was ranked #2 in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” among comprehensive bachelor’s degree-granting institutions in the Western region of the United States according to “America’s Best Colleges 2010,” published by U.S.News & World Report. Additionally, for the seventh consecutive year, HPU was named in the “Top Schools” category.
