Howard Payne University held their annual homecoming parade on Saturday as one of their highlighted events during their homecoming celebration.  The parade started at the Doakie Day Art Center, rounded the Mabee University Center, down Fisk Street to Austin Avenue, where it turned and re-entered the campus on Center Avenue.

The parade featured many of this year’s homecoming honorees including Distinguished Alumni – Joe ’55 and Almola ’55 James; Outstanding Young Graduate – Chad Gann ’97; Medal of Service – Winifred Dodds ’58 (posthumous); Medal of Service – Chuck Gartman ’72; Coming Home Queen – Joyce Clay ’77; Grand Marshals – Dale ’55 and LaVerne ’54 Gore; and Dr. José Rivas Distinguished Service Award – Dr. Moises Rodriguez’81.

The HPU marching band, several very creative floats, university officials and a few surprises were also featured in the parade.

This year’s homecoming theme is “The Great Adventure,” and features approximately 40 events throughout the weekend.
