Howard Payne University’s Homecoming celebration is in full swing, and one highlight that alumni look forward to each year is the Homecoming Parade. A new route this year kept the parade near HPU campus as it started at the Doakie Day Art Center, rounded the Mabee University Center, down Fisk Street to Austin Avenue, where it turned and re-enter the campus on Center Avenue.
The parade featured many of this year’s homecoming honorees, HPU marching band, and several very creative floats from campus organizations.
This year’s homecoming theme is “All Road Lead Home” with a total of approximately 40 events being held throughout the weekend.
The Homecoming performance for the weekend is the musical South Pacific at the university’s Mims Auditorium. The final showing is Saturday, October 15 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. For ticket information, contact the School of Music and Fine Arts at 325-649-8500.
