The Early Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 100 block of E. River Oaks on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the garage enclosure and attic of the home.  As they fought the fire, heavy smoke was visible coming from all parts of the brick house.  Flames were also visible from the rooftop vents of the home before firefighters got it under control.

Initial reports state that the fire started near a lawnmower that was under the carport outside which quickly spread up the outside wall of the garage enclosure, and into the attic.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.  The interior of the home sustained mostly heat and smoke damage.
