A jury in 35th District Court handed down a guilty verdict this week against 40-year-old Norman Earl Horton, Jr. for sexually assaulting a woman when she was a minor.  The jury found Horton guilty on two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child by contact.

On Friday, Horton was sentenced to 60 years in prison & a $10,000 fine for the first count of aggravated sexual assault when the female relative was 8 ½ years old & 20 years and then another $10,000 fine for the conviction of indecency with a child.  Both of these jail terms will run concurrent.

He was also handed a life sentence and $10,000 fine for the second aggravated sexual assault charge which will be a consecutive term.

After the trial and sentencing ended, one anonymous and emotionally drained juror said, “This was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.”

The juror concluded by saying, “I have no doubt we made the right decision.”
