Many students at Brownwood Intermediate School proudly wear dog tags around their necks with the name of a soldier from the Brownwood Area who is serving overseas. Also on the tag is the name of the school. These tags were part of a fund raiser the school participated in to honor troops serving overseas.
Each student was asked to donate $2.00 to help pay for care packages to be sent to military men and women in foreign lands. In return, students received a dog tag to wear.
Many staff members and students donated above and beyond the $2. In total, there were 201 students, 27 instructional staff, and 4 food service workers who donated $1,038 for care packages.
