Graveside services for Holley Ray Abernathy will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013, at the Greenleaf Cemetery. Interment will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
He went home to be with the Lord and family December 22, 2013. He was born July 25, 1941, to Elime Ray Abernathy and Minnie Jo Denton Abernathy Cammack in Brownwood, Texas.
As a young man Dad had a fancy for automobiles, he taught himself how to be a paint and body man. Holley worked for the late James Cooley of Highway Auto Parts. Along with his dad they operated their own paint, body shop and car wash until his father’s death. After his dad passed away Holley became a regular car salesman, paint and body man. He operated his business for over 30 years until he became ill in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra Abernathy of Brownwood; two sons, Scott and Holley both of Brownwood; and five daughters, Terri, Misty, Edna, Kathy Abernathy, and Kristie Allgood all of Brownwood. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by both parents; a step-father, Curtis Cammack; a step-mother, Johnnie Abernathy; one brother, Bud Abernathy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
