In honor of Texas Independence month, the Brown County Historical Society will have a program at 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 21st in room 136 Guy D. Newman Hall, on the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom Campus of Howard Payne University. The program will be “The Life of Davy Crockett” by former San Saba County Judge Tom Bowden, local “tall tale teller.”
The public is invited to attend this free program. Students and groups are also encouraged to attend.

This is the date that Texans declared independence at Washington-on-the-Brazos. March 6th is the date the Alamo fell, “Remember the Alamo,” and March 9th is the day that Goliad fell. April 21st is San Jacinto Day, the day that General Sam Houston defeated General Santa Ana of the Mexican Army.
