What began as a narcotics investigation involving detectives with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Brownwood Police Department ended with a multi-department effort to stop a man and a woman who led officers on a high speed chase down country roads and along Highway 84. The truck, which had reached dangerous speeds on the wet roads, had at one point sped past a school bus around 4 p.m.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brownwood and Early Police Departments, and the Texas State Troopers created a network of communication to keep up with the suspects.

Spikes were deployed, and the suspect’s front tires were damaged. The two continued fleeing from law enforcement even as smoke billowed from the front of the damaged vehicle.

Ultimately the truck hit a trailer in a residential area in Zephyr, effectively ending the pursuit.

Law enforcement officers quickly arrested the two suspects, and began searching for items that had been thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit.

More information is expected from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office soon.
