The Brownwood Veteran’s Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic recently recognized volunteer Walter Hester at a luncheon held in his honor. Hester has accumulated over 7500 volunteer hours with the clinic. Hester served in the Army and returned back to his hometown of Brownwood after retiring from the US Postal Service.
Angela Smith, RN, BSN, and the Clinical Coordinator for the Brownwood Community Based Outpatient Clinic, describes Hester as invaluable to the clinic.
“He is a valued member of our VA family and just one of those people that you enjoy working with and being around. As a volunteer, Walter brings so much to the organization, his skills, experience, friendship, inspiration; that he brings, but time he gives,” states Smith.
Hester has been volunteering at the clinic since April of 2004.
“In our busy world, time is a precious commodity and Walter so generously and graciously gives us the gift of his time,” said Smith. “We are grateful to be the beneficiary of that gift and we hope to have him around for many more years to come.”
