On May 10th, two Watch Dogs, Dan Morelock and Mike McClatchy, were visiting with students in the Woodland Heights Elementary cafeteria when a student, Caleb Fulton, alerted the Watch Dogs that a fellow student was choking.

McClatchy quickly responded and helped Branden Carmack regain his breath by dislodging the food in his throat.  Morelock accompanied Carmack to the office where he was comforted by Cindi Caraway and further examined by Nurse Lacy.  Carmack was in good health after the frightening incident—a situation that could have had dire results if it weren’t for the quick thinking exhibited by Fulton.

Branden and Don Carmack showed their appreciation to Fulton, Morelock, and McClatchy by presenting gifts hand crafted by Mr. Carmack.  In the presence of the entire second grade class, Carmack spoke about the meaning of heroes and credited the swift reaction of Fulton, caring office staff, and the Watch Dog Program to saving his grandson’s life.
