Funeral Services for Henry Carroll Chambers, age 79, of May will be held Friday, August 03, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at May United Methodist Church in May with John Beckling officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. He passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in Brownwood.
Henry was born on January 20, 1933, in Williams, Texas to Marvin and Ozelle (Crume) Chambers.
Henry spent fourteen years in the USAF as an aircraft electrician. He followed that career with sixteen years in the California Highway Patrol as a Licensing Officer for trucks. He was well-respected by his co-workers for his honesty, fair dealings with truck drivers, and his good humor.
Henry was fun-loving and brought cheer to those around him. He loved to tease and play practical jokes. Laughter and good humor were special attributes of his. His passion involved building and racing old cars. His ’39 Chevy Coupe earned several award ribbons.
He loved his family, his dachshund, and his chi-weenie dog. Those who knew him enjoyed his company and his wonderful smile. Henry will be missed.
Henry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Joanne Chambers of May, Texas; 1 daughter, Nancy Chambers of San Juan Capistrano, California; 1 grandson, Daniel Weir and wife Melanie of Petaluma, California; 1 sister, Marva Brim and husband Jim of Brownwood; 1 sister-in-law, Katherine Ryle and husband Jack of Austin.
