The 10th Annual Heart of Texas Quilt Show opened on Friday and will continue through Saturday.
There are over 120 quilts on display, door prizes, a donation quilt (a portion of the proceeds benefits the Pregnancy Care Center), demonstrations, a trunk show, an old fashion bed turning and more. Tickets for the donation quilt are 6 for $5.00 or $1.00 each and may be purchased from any guild member. There are also vendors selling quilting materials and supplies.
Show hours are 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $7 for quilters, husbands and children under 12 admitted free of charge.
Quilts from all over the states are displayed, and the public can choose their favorites in each category with a top prize of best in show.
These beautiful quilts range in not only design, but styles, colors, techniques of construction and some have interesting themes, such as holiday, religious, fantasy, and historical designs.
Educational workshops/lectures are also available to those attending, as well as an old fashion bed turning. Lectures at this year’s event include 100 Years of Redwork by the Scarlet Lady; Spinning Pinwheels by Sarah Miller-Moe; Scrap Quilts by Shaula Patton of The Feathered Star Quilt Shop; and Debbie Maddy from the Calico Carriage.
There are still several hours of the show to enjoy, so visit the Heart of Texas Quilt Show at the Brownwood Coliseum today.
