Mrs. Hazel Louise Nicholson Allen passed from this life to meet her Lord on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Blaylock Funeral Home will be in charge of memorial services. There will be a family visitation on Friday, October 26 from 6:00-8:00 PM and funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM. A private family interment will be Sunday at Greenleaf Cemetery of Brownwood, Texas.
She was born February 27, 1921 at the family home at Cedar Point Community of Brown County as the third child of the late Franklin Harris Nicholson and Nettie Mae Gifford Nicholson of Brownwood. She was a life time resident of Brownwood, Texas.
She attended school at the one room-one teacher school in Cedar Point and Brownwood High School where she graduated in 1938. In 1963 she graduated from the Brownwood College of Business.
During the war Hazel worked for the War Department in Camp Bowie at the Station Hospital as a clerk typist. In the 50’s and early 60’s she was employed by M&M Children’s Shop in Brownwood. On the completion of her business school she went to work as a secretarial clerk at Ross Manufacturing where she retired after 27 years. While retired she worked part time for Valton Sudderth Law Offices and Jerry Richardson Financial Services.
She was a lifetime member of the Southern Baptist Church and was a member of the Early Baptist Church for over 45 years.
Hazel was preceded in death by an infant daughter Donna Louise Allen, her parents Frank and Mae Nicholson, two brothers Cecil Nicholson of Brownwood and D.L. Nicholson of Lufkin and one sister Frances Nicholson Perkins of Brownwood. She is survived by two sons; Randy Allen and wife Sharron of Brownwood and Rodney Allen and wife Karen of Leander, Texas. Also six grandchildren: Rodney’s daughter Brandie Allen, Randy’s children Robbie Allen, Tammy Allen and Kristi Pinegar and husband Donovan, a stepson Chad Mercer and stepdaughter Lacy Matthiesen and husband Joe; ten great grandchildren: Brandie’s Erica, Faith & Gabriel Allen of Leander, Tammy’s Jacob and Jared, Kristy’s Hank Pinegar, Robbie’s Tiffany and Seth Allen, Lacy’s Harlee and Jacey Matthiesen.
Serving as pallbearers will be her great-nephews Joey Cantwell, Johnny Cantwell, Brandon Cantwell, Clay Beene, Russell Conley all of Brownwood and Dwight Wells of Fort Worth, Texas.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Early First Baptist Church or your favorite charity.

Services will be held at 2:00 Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eddie Ailshie officiating. A private family interment will follow Sunday afternoon. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood, 1914 Indian Creek. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
