Brennan Harris earned the rank of Eagle Scout this past Saturday, which is a special date, as it marks the 50th anniversary of when his grandfather Jimmie Ellis also received this prestigious rank in the Boy Scouts of America.
Brennan received his rank exactly 50 years after his grandfather was awarded the BSA Eagle Scout Award-the highest rank attainable in the organization. Mr. Ellis is pictured above with his grandson Harris at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor this past Saturday. Harris was recognized in ceremonies on September 17th at his home church, Lawn Baptist. The event was attended by approximately 70 fellow scouts, friends and family.
Brennan is a member of Troop 277 Texas Trails Council of Abilene. He earned the required 21 merit badges and for his Eagle Project, planned, organized and recruited the help of about 30 people to clean the over 100 year-old Lemon’s Gap Cemetery west of Tuscola, TX.
Brennan is a student at Jim Ned High school where he serves as junior class treasurer, is in the National Honor Society and is active in sports including quarterback for the Jim Ned Indians. He is also very active in his church and youth activities. Brennan is the son of Jeff & Debbie Harris of Tuscola, the grandson of Jimmie & Betty Ellis of Bangs and Gaylon & Barbara Harris of Abilene and the great-grandson of Vada Reynolds of Bangs.
