Harold Ray Starkey, age 89, passed away Saturday, April 30,2016 in Brownwood.
He was born November 16,1926 in Wheeler, Texas to Clint and Minnie (Robison) Starkey. Harold taught high school Building Trades in Brownwood, Fort Stockton, and Spur, Texas as well as Walters, Oklahoma. He was a carpenter for many years both before and after teaching. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France. In 1952 Harold married Doris Eileen Mahaffey. The couple moved to Brownwood in 1972.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, and sister Vondell (Starkey) Killingsworth. He is survived by his son Brett Starkey and Tammy of Brownwood, daughter Jill Garrett and Boyd of Pflugerville, grandchildren Dixie García and Clarissa of Austin, Leslie Starkey and Mykl Clark of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hope Burnett and Brian of Lubbock, and Scott Locke of Austin.A memorial service will be held at a future time.
