Harland L. “Red” Harris, 87 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 Dumas Cemetery with Rev. Jay McGaughy, officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 224 Services are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Red was born June 16, 1926 to Edward and Clara (Campbell) Harris in Stephenville, TX. He honorably served his country in the United State Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. Red was a craftsman and enjoyed working on leather as well as fishing. More than anything he loved to play poker. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3278 in Brownwood and will be missed by all.He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Imajean Hamrick; and two brothers: Charles and Curtis Harris.
Red is survived by five sisters: Mary Maier and husband Frank of Amarillo, TX; Dorris Tate and husband Gene of Custer, WA; Janice Moore and husband Larry of Canyon, TX; Mildred Scott of Hudson, CO; Alma Stephen of San Francisco, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
