The National Weather Service issued an advisory Monday stating that the coldest temperatures in nearly a year are expected across West Central Texas tonight, with lows in the upper teens and lower 20s.
That public is urged to take any needed precautions such as providing shelter for, pets, bringing plants indoors, or wrapping exposed pipes during daylight hours today.
A warming trend is expected to start Wednesday afternoon.
Tonight, temperatures will plunge after dark, with readings falling into the teens and lower 20s across much of West Central Texas by sunrise Tuesday morning. With a period of 12 hours or more below freezing, caution should be taken to protect your pipes, pets, and any cold sensitive plants. If you have an outdoor sprinkler system still activated, now is the time to disable the system ahead of these very cold conditions.Temperatures will remain below normal Tuesday afternoon, and a hard freeze is again likely on Wednesday morning. However, temperatures will climb back to near normal by Wednesday afternoon, with highs reaching the 60s.
