handsonahousestartThe 9th Annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration is underway and the first competition to get fired up is Hands on a House.

This year, 11 contestants will battle for the grand prize of a custom built playhouse.  Participants compete  by keeping their hand in contact with the playhouse for the duration of the Reunion with limited breaks.  The last person with their hand in contact with the house wins.

Hands on a House sponsors Coldwell Banker, Avalon Custom Homes, and WT Harris Company also run a canned food drive in conjunction with the event.  Supporters can donate canned food on behalf of their favorite contestant.  The contestant with the most canned goods on Saturday night will get an extra break from the house.   All donation go to Doers Ministries and St. John’s Food Pantry.

This year’s Hands on a House contest also features some new difficulty challenges such as a watermelon eating contest, blindfold round, costume contest, just to name a few.

Contestants were given instructions today regarding the rules, and then the horn sounded kicking off the event.  Organizers told contestants that the challenges and difficulties will increase as the competition progresses in hopes that a winner will be named Sunday afternoon.
