The Good Samaritan Ministries will be giving out Christmas boxes beginning Monday, December 3 through Friday, December 21.
Donations of non-perishable food items may be brought to any of their drop off locations around town. Current drop off locations include: McCoy’s Building Supply, First Central Credit Union, Bank of America, Wendlee Broadcasting, KOXE Radio, KPSM Radio, Sears and Texas Bank.
Christmas boxes from Good Samaritan furnish a family a box filled with most of the ingredients needed to prepare a traditional Christmas dinner: a hen, eggs, butter, pumpkin, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, green beans, chicken broth, cornbread mix, stuffing mix and more. The food for the boxes comes from a combination of food donations from local residents and businesses and the majority is ordered from the food bank and local grocery stores.
According to Angelia Bostick, Executive Director of Good Samaritan Ministries, 1,347 families received these boxes last December and GSM anticipates around 1,500 families to need assistance this year.
Only $25 will provide a Christmas food box to a family in need. Donations may be made at 305 Clark Street, mail it to P.O. Box 1136, Brownwood, TX 76804 or online at goodsambwd.org.
